Past My Prime
The photograph of this old timer was captured many years ago on farmland between Swift Current and Shaunavon in southwestern Saskatchewan, Canada. Obviously, it had paid its dues by hauling countless loads of grain to the local elevators before finally being retired to this - its final resting place - after being replaced by larger and more modern trucks. Not many of the old wooden elevators (considered by many to be sentinals of the Prairies, as they aided travelers in establishing their whereabouts) remain, having been replaced by fewer huge cold concrete grain terminals. The scenery here is representative of the wide open spaces of central and southern Saskatchewan, where one of the popular stories is: "if your dog runs away from home, you can still see him running for 4 days." (Prints from this image are also available in black and white.)
